BT Business Hub 2 and Tenda wifi connection

[link to this post]

I just switched from a BT Home Hub (residential line) to a BT Business Hub 2 (business line) to Make business accounting easier for my small home business.

I have a 3 device Tenda Nova setup that worked well with the Home Hub but steadfastly refuses to connect with the Business Hub.

The automatic detection in the app fails every time despite using a wired connection to the BT Business Hub and the hub operating normally..

I'm not using static IP.

The BT Broadband home PPPoE details are widely available and I (believe) I used these to set up the Tenda network when I installed it ?? years ago. The problem I have is the BT Business Broadband has no password as BT insist this isn't required for business customers. However, the PPPoE setup on the Tenda app requires a password.

Any advice would be appreciated before I hang on teh phone for several weeks with BT themselves.

Can you use the Tenda Nova's in "Bridge Mode" and so avoid the need to enter the PPPoE details?

The Tenda Novas I have do have a bridge mode so I have two Tenda Nova units (base station and one extender) set to bridge mode and connected to a Billion 8800AXL (with the WiFi turned off). As the Tenda's are in bridge mode, the Billion is doing all the PPPoE and NAT stuff and everything works fine.

Agreed ... green-light should work - have used it many times.

If you are bypassing the SH2, then you'll need to speak to BT to get your unique PPPoE login and password details. these will allow you to connect to a 3rd party router direct from the ONT. Or - you can put the SH2 in bridge mode - and then the WAN/LAN1 (can't remember which - sorry) port on the SH2 becomes the WAN ethernet port - which you plug into your router (as the WAN port) - all NATing etc is done on your own equipment.

btw - the BT business forums are very responsive - just ask for your details and they will reply - needing security questions etc but they will give the details over the forum - that's how I got mine.

Thanks, I did consider this but I then lose teh guest wifi function of teh Tenda which I wanted to maintain, as opposed to using guest on the Business Hub which will have a more restricted range.

I guess this will need to be my backup plan if I can't obtain login details from BT.

Appreciate the reply and help
