My 1801 is rubbish on O2 which is the same as Be. It worked fine when I had Sky, though it did have it's moments.
Hopefully Cisco will get their finger out and sort the problem.

Where do I find firmware 4.0.0.18? I don't have a Cisco account and I've had a 887 for a few months and it's doing the same thing as described here.

You need a support contract to get firmware etc.

Dang... That's kind of what I thought. Cisco shipped my router with an IOS that didn't even support the integrated ADSL card. I had to argue with them just to give me an IOS that worked with router and integrated equipment. Cisco has really disappointed me on this one. Thanks for that information though.

We've been having trouble with an 877 on a realtively long line on an ADSL2-enabled (21CN) exchange.
It works fine on other connections, just not this one!

Cisco, via our support provider, haven't been very helpful - they're not geared up to the "try this firmware to see if it fixes it" approach instewad expecting you to be able to get DSLAM and line card info to them so they can work to specifics. Getting that info from an ISP seems to be nigh on impossible (as they have to go back to BT for it)

IMO Cisco have really dropped the ball on this one - their kit just isn't as reliable on the ADSL side as equipment costing 1/10 the price and their support structure (for which you pay a significan amount) jsut can't handle mass-market "consumer-grade" services where you don't have easy access to the teclo's techincal team.

I'm glad I ony have the one 877 and have comissioned other sites with cisco kit for the LAN edge, but using cheap "consumer-grade" routers for the ADSL connection.

I know this is an old post, but just thought I'd mention to all Cisco 877 owners that Cisco have pulled the v4.0.18 ADSL Firmware, and released a v4.0.195 update which vastly improves the 21CN compatibility.

We've been running this on several customer routers for a month or so now and we've found it to be rock solid. As I understand it the firmware also provides Annex M support (if you need it). The only downisde is that you'll need a Cisco Support Contract to obtain it (although I'm happy to send anyone a copy that needs it).

Sadly 4.0.195 didn't work for us.
It's a long line and the 877 just couldn't sync on ADSL2 whereas a zyxel managed fine.

Hi

Does anyone know why the interface firmware 4.0.18 and 4.0.195 are not available on the cisco website for download. Or does anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks,
Richard

I'd also like to locate a copy of this firmware if possible. TIA. smile
