What's that got to do with asking to have the target noise margin raised? Nothing at all that I can think of.

Ah, but! Having said that, if there was noise in the extra frequencies used by ADSL2+, but not in the ADSL1/2 ones, that could have caused the SNRM to fall, and forcing ADSL2 could have cured the problem packet loss, raising the SNRM as a side-effect. But still nothing to do with getting the target margin raised.

Cutting the speed to a maximum 12Mbps does however seem a rather poor solution compared to getting the line problem investigated and hopefully fixed by the ISP.
