BT ignore non cable areas.

odd they're doing an entire town near me which has no cable at all.

Best reset your prejudices.
Agreed - patently untrue. My village has no cable, no chance of ever getting it, yet a fibre cabinet was installed.

Indeed, my town does not have cable and we have been enabled for FTTC.

Cable is available in most of my town but BT are concentrating their rollout on the part where it's not available. They seem to have worked out that the take-up rate for FTTC will be much higher in non-cabled areas.

99.9% (all but one town) of my county doesn't have cable but BT are steadily FTTCing things up (with FTTP in a couple of areas). Including my village which is getting cabinets installed right now despite the official line being "August 2012 possibly".

That one town that does have cable doesn't yet have FTTC.

Admittedly there is some public subsidy involved, but BT are still stumping up tens of millions of pounds of their own money too.

Yeovil has no Virgin cable and as far as I can find out we won't in the near future (2/3 years), and we are not going to get FTTC either. If what SamKnows is correct. Which it is.

It may interest you to know, if you have not seen it already, that the recent rollout lists show that Yeovil will indeed be getting FTTC and it should be by the end of 2012 (although we all know, of course, that this date could change). Here's a link I found:

Hi guys,

Does anyone know how you can find out if BT have finished upgrading an area to FTTC. My local exchange had been upgraded some cabinets have but my local cabinet has not.

Thanks in advance
