Hi All
Not been here for a while, 80% of our village has FTTC but I still cannot get it until March 2013. Even though I live in between people who have it... don't get me started..
Ok in the meantime I have been upgraded to ADSL 2+ from what I can tell...
I came home today and noticed my upstream speed increase to 992/996 I think it was but downstream was 8192. Tried reboot router and only thing that had changed was upstream dropped to 960.
I have a Netgear DG834GT with firmware V1.03.22 - DGTeam Rev. 1018
It's supposed to be compatiable with ADSL 2+ from what I can see.....
My Router stats are:-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 960 kbps
Line Attenuation 13.5 db 7.0 db
Noise Margin 9.7 db 11.0 db
ADSL Firmware Version A2pB026.d20e
Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 8128 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 960 kbps
VPI 0
VCI 38
I found my connect had only been connect for 2 hours when I got back from work. So BT obviously were doing something... I got all Multimode, ADSL and ADSL2/2+ options ticked in Advanced ADSL settings.
Tried a few things but still only on 8128k. So have they only half done the job? according to my ISP Xilo the job has been completed?
Any suggestions would be gratefully received...
Thanks
Nick

ISP may have you on an ADSL profile still. Looks that way. The upstream shows you are running on the WBC platform

I have contacted ISP so hopefully they will sort this out, thanks for quick reply. Thought I'd just check with this forum as it's helped me a lot in the past!

Looks like you have been put on 21CN but with a 20CN profile.
What happens if you tick ADSL2+ only? Does it connect?
On true ADSL2+ you should get about 22 Meg.

Sales team told me leave it a few days... this is normal behavior ? - not convinced with that myself!!!

For some providers yes, they shift you to the new platform (it is not automatic) and to avoid a sudden period of instability wait a day or so before placing order to unleash the ADSL2+ potential.
Its not standard behaviour for the BT Wholesale ADSL2+ service though.

Hi Guys...
Thanks again for your quick replies and advice....
I spoke to Xilo and they did indeed say it would stay at 8128 for a while...
Got up this morning and got this:-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18839 kbps 1163 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.5 db 7.4 db
Noise Margin 5.8 db 5.9 db
And Speedtest.net result
Nice!! and in March 2013 FTTC for me... but this help a lot in meantime!!!

I had a few problems on Xilo when I migrated to 21CN. It was just me being too hasty.
It took 48 hours to shift over to a full 21CN profile.

Your like me, I was the same... just impatient... today it did more:-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 20499 kbps 1163 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.5 db 7.3 db
Noise Margin 3.3 db 5.9 db
Ok 3.3 db Noise Margin seems a bit close to the wind for me but it's still working and been going for a good 7 hours...
Makes so much difference from ADSL ... Xilo do know their stuff and tell you the truth a very good ISP...
I did remove my bell wire, get expensive ADSL filters, and have two of them to filter phone and I also have custom firmware on my NetGear router... I always wanted to get the most out of my connection and as New Build had a in-built ifilter!! all of this does help and finally expensive cable from connection to router!!!

I take it that's with Interleaving on?
|
|
I take it as OFF. If it were ON Up Sync would be 888K,
1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC
|
|
Is that the cap for the maximum upload speed on Xilo 21CN products then? or does distance not affect upstream much?
I'm nearly twice his line attenuation and get more upstream.

But are you running with Interleaved or Fast Path? That is the Q!
1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC

Well according to you its clearly fast path.
I take it as OFF. If it were ON Up Sync would be 888K,

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18839 kbps 1163 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.5 db 7.4 db
Noise Margin 5.8 db 5.9 db
Mine is:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18879 kbps 1279 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.2 db 17.4 db
Noise Margin 5.9 db 5.6 db

Well according to you its clearly fast path.
I take it as OFF. If it were ON Up Sync would be 888K,
Fast Path is 1279K otherwise upstream is interleaved on at 1163 kbps (should be 1279 kbps on fath path)

otherwise upstream is interleaved on at 1163 kbps Evidence?
There's no indication in OP's stats either way, other than the rule I gave.
