....The estimate is now March 2015, after slipping three times before.
Sorry. Just had to moan.

Unlucky, I'm on cabinet 10 which has been enabled since May '14. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they let it slip again, they let Cab 10 slip by more than a year

Yet everything seems in place for it, and has done for a long time.
This time last year I was waiting for a bus (new cabinet is two feet away from the bus stop across the road from the old cabinet) and noticed it was ajar and had a couple of boxes of what looked like old riser cards for computers.
I assumed there was somebody working on it and gone for their break.
However, the following day it was exactly the same so I phoned it in. Later that night I had a call from a very upset engineer asking me where the cabinet was, as he couldn't find it.
This while two Open Reach vans are parked every night within a 500m radius.
Still, I live in hope..........

Probably not wise to hold your breath. I work in Greenock and time difference between BT's original go live date for the cabinet that serves our premises and the date we could actually order fibre was approximately two and a half years...

It's getting on for that now, but as you say, I won't hold my breath.
Unless Mr.Saffron or someone in the know has heard anything ?

I have to wonder if the delay is because Openreach are redirecting their resources to the areas being enabled with government funding.
There's a whole heap of places in Inverclyde and the surrounding area that are part of the Digital Scotland program and are scheduled to get FTTC in the first half of this year - Kilmacolm, Bridge of Weir, Wemyss Bay, Inverkip, etc. If that work has priority then obviously it'll have a knock-on effect on any cabs that are part of the commercial roll-out but not yet enabled.

Correct not hitting contract targets will have penalties

I struggle to imagine how hard it must be finish it off. The new FTTC cab was erected over a year ago now, and the fibre has already been blown. I don't think it has any power yet though as I walked past it today and I couldn't hear a fan. Even then, it shouldn't take a year to get power to it. This would be in Openreach's interests as it's in one of the most populous areas in Gourock too.

Power is reliant on a third party, i.e. who ever does the power cables in your area and have seen some get delayed as work was in the pipeline and power company wanted to tie it all together.
The variation in the quotes for power installs are also one of the reasons why cabinet costs can vary so much.
BT may be getting the headlines, but the power companies are doing well from the roll-out too.

Bloomin' wonderful.
It's as if our bit of upper Gourock doesn't exist. No cable either.

Yes !
Went for the bus yesterday and what did I see ?
Two Serco vans with two engineers working at the new box and another at the old one.
Internet was down for a while and has come back up with more latency, but all I have to do now is wait. I'll keep using the checker, so fingers crossed

Now to find a router (I've ordered the PlusNet one but have heard the wifi isn't that good) will I have to upgrade my mains network adaptors ?
