BT change their 'speedtest' and 'dslchecker' websites...

[link to this post]

I notice BT have changed their 'speedtest/IP profile' and 'availability' websites:

http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com and http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

Unfortunately the biggest change seems the introduction of some purple text!
I was hoping BT would revamp the IP Profile checker so that it runs without FLASH as this is dying out - but sadly it still uses it.

Not the best website revamp I've come across wink

I'm not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere and I've missed it?
I originally posted here as the 'BT speedtest' seems to be a BTW thing...

Anyway - since my last post it looks as if BT no longer require users to have FLASH installed to use their speedtest to see their IP Profile.

It seems to be just as temperamental but that's a BT thing rather than Adobe FLASH!

EDIT:
BT's speedtest FAQ page still mentions FLASH *is* required...!

Just tried to check my IP Profile as I've come home and found we've had a power cut earlier in the day.
Now I'm seeing:

"We have detected that you do not have Flash installed on your device. In order to complete this test Flash must be installed and enabled. Please click the link above in order to install the latest Flash player."

So it looks like BT may have reversed their non-FLASH code?!

THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST TBB PEOPLE - tongue

I've always used https://www.btwholesale.com/adslchecker/ which as of today no longer exists (but was identical to http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/).

Googled for any equivalent and found http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/totl.input

which gives more information than the previous including some DLM details. Is this new?

The full link to the old adsl version http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome still works but does indeed redirect to the also old version of the yucky-looking one which is the second link in the OP.

The totl.input one you have found requires a BT login of some kind.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up. BQM

Indeed it does now... except when I clicked through from Google it took me in without asking for a login, and I can still use that URL to access in this browser session. If I open the link in an Incognito session then it's asking for a login which I certainly don't have - which begs the question how has it logged me in on the first session? Weird!

This URL, found through Google, seems to work at the moment: http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/totl.login?identif...

Certainly does, I was just checking again and if you look at the URL from Google it's got login details stored in it, hmmm....

Thanks for the link, I checked out the two lines we have in different areas on the same exchange, while much of the detail given I am used to from the other DSL checkers BT have made available, I did notice a few different parameters as below sampled from the checks I ran on both lines.

VDSL FTTC Loss Source HV
VDSL FTTC DP Source Actual
MTBE Downstream: 4400
MTBE Upstream: 400
H24Retrains: 2

VDSL FTTC Loss Source HVD
VDSL FTTC DP Source Actual
MTBE Upstream: 264
H24Retrains: 2

Can anyone translate DP souce, Loss source and the MTBE data along with H24 retrains?

Any ISP that thinks that selling my click traffic is acceptable is MisinPHORMed
VIVACITI 80/20 FTTC
SWPM PCP29 - Still suffering Random drops and intermittent high error counts

BQM - looking better than it has been....

I found https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/Broadband-Faul...

From that I get MTBE is mean time between errors (seconds per day) so the higher the better, maximum 86400 indicating no errors.

H24Retrains looks to be resyncs in the past day although I suspect 1 means no resyncs, rather than 0 based on the two lines I checked that both showed 1 for that.

Incidentally both those lines had only "MTBE Upstream" whereas one of your lines also shows "MTBE Downstream". Not sure why this would be missing from some lines, both the numbers I checked are connected to a Huawei Cab. They also show "VDSL FTTC Loss Source HV" so that doesn't seem to correspond to the lack of "MTBE Downstream".
