I am aware I can input any sound whatsoever & this I can save to my hd using my soundcard. I can grab any sound on say You-Tube
Can I do this with video

You can.... In most cases anyway. There are many apps around that will do this, including the basic
Real Player
which inserts a "Download This Video" button where appropriate.
