Zyxel 660HW - Can't ping WAN interface externally?

I have a 660HW running the latest firmware. Other than my ISP login settings it's on the default options. As far as I can tell this should allow pinging of the WAN port from external IPs, but it doesn't appear to.

It's one of those where I'm not too bothered, but I don't understand why it doesn't allow it when the manual and rules that I can see via the GUI suggest that it should.

Any suggestions please?

I can t see why you want this to happen unless you want tons of port scanners to bump into your router...

I would also be interested.
I had a 660H before I went wireless with the 660HW, and I've never discovered how you get it to work.

Like you, more of an academic interest point than any practical value.

pinging is an elementary diagnostic tool. Without it troubleshooting is a problem.

Main Menu > Advanced > Firewall > Anti probing > Respond to Ping on ...

Select the appropriate drop-down option.

Apologies for my own follow-up but I should have added that you need also to open the firewall by creating a new rule for WAN>WAN(ROUTER) which specifically allows through PING requests.
