My mum had a rock solid IPStream1000, she regraded o Max. Since then the connection has been awful, throughput is awful never above 50k/s even when synced at 2.5mbit for 3 days in a row. BT Wholesale have been out to it several times. I got it stable at over 2mbit by clipping the ring wire and using Adslnation filters, even when it was stable at over 2mbit the throughput was awful. BT came out and put a BT faceplate on it and tinkered about, it now hardly keeps sync and rarely syncs above 1mbit, grrrrrrr.
I sent my mum an email explaining about the throughput, BRAS profiling etc. The BT engineer didn't know there was a difference between throughput and sync speeed and had never heard about BRAS profiles. Its hard enough to diagnose adsl problems when i live 200 miles away but even more tricky when the BT guy makes things worse. The line stats are that she is now on the 12db profile with an attenuation of 54-56db. Line length about 3.5km.
Her router is a Zyxel 650H-e, it was pretty cheap even 2 years ago. Next time i go home i want to try my dg834g on the line, the AR7 chipset might handle the line better. Any suggestions on a router for this line or on a way to get this nightmare line stable. Its not the sync that worries me, its the very poor throughput. F2S support have passed it up to topline support as they are out of ideas. I spent about 45minutes talking to the f2s guy yesterday.
