ADSL Router recommendation for Zen 8000 Active+VPN

[link to this post]

I'm just in the process of setting a colleage up with Zen 8000 Active package (it's the shortlisted provider), it's a single PC at present, but may be two in the future, they definitely want a Router rather than a USB modem, also they are having a 3rd party VPN system setup next month to run across this connection to another office, but this will provided by a third party (along with a custom firewall, although we don't have the details).

Will any router support VPN, or do we need to make sure this is supported in the one we choose? (The Zen 8000 package does support VPN)

Which would be a good set of ADSL routers to review to support the 8000 Active package from Zen which is a ADSL Max service. I assume not all routers support ADSL Max.

I've heard DrayTek are good, but normally would use Netgear or possibly Belkin.

Wireless is not a requirement, and it's specifically asked not to be in the router for security.

Thoughts much appreciated!

Re: "I've heard DrayTek are good, "

You have the answer already. Go with DrayTek.

By the way, you do not need a third party VPN system. The DrayTek will do the VPN as well.

Thanks for the advice, so which DrayTek would you recommend, the DrayTek Vigor 2600VG like you are using?

The VPN isn't in our hands, it's a special health link up, so God knows what sort of stuff they'll insist on, but I want to ensure the router is good enough to start with before they start tampering!

The 2600 series routers have now been superceded by the 2800.

G adds 802.11g wireless.
V adds VoIP

I have 3 2600VG and 1 2600 - all four are extremely stable.

I bought a Draytek 2500V and I'm disappointed with it. It does everything it says on the box, but its not the most intuitive to use. Especially the firewall rules even for someone familar with iptables rules.

I have had a couple nigling problems with it. The draytek support was responsive and curtious however unable to recify the problem or even tell me what the error message meant.
