Speedtouch 585v6

[link to this post]

Ok, I went and got one, first impressions are good on the ADSL side. It hangs on and on, even down to 1db SNR. The wireless is rubbish though, it's locked on 11Mb for some reason and it is set to g&b mode. Any ideas, running the latest version 6 software.

I have a speedtouch 510v4 doin nothing and we need more ports off the router, is it possible to use the 510v4 as a hub/switch to accept an incoming feed off the 585v6 and then re-transmit?

Thanks

hi, well if i wanted to limit the rate on the network card, and leave the router setting at b+g, i would go to device manager > name of network card > advanced > rate (and change the rate). this would have same effect as you're experiencing.

but i would change the mode in the router to b only, then limit the rate in the card to 11. (limiting it improves signal strength in a big house).

if you used the card before though, at a higher rate, then i wouldnt know how it got changed.

on your second question, i dont know sorry, but i'm watching to see if someone does.

I don't understand your problem. "g&b mode" means that either 802.11b *OR* 802.11g standard devices can connect to the router. b at 11mbps and g at 54mbps. What client card so you have installed?

Guy
