Wow, didn't think I'd gain a whole half meg..

So I recently migrated to a MaxDSL connection from my fixed 512Kb connection on my relatively long line..

Prior to migration the line stats on my Draytek Vigor 2600VG were 62dB attenuation & about 16-20dB SNR margin.

After migration I was seeing a sync between 2000000 (bad day!) to 2400000bps, with the attenuation at 61dB and SNR margin of 5-6dB.

So today I decided to try out the cheap & cheerful free router that came with my migration, a ZyXEL P660R Compact single port router.

Well aside from a hideous configuration interface and a ridiculously small NAT connection table of 250 entries, it's now syncing at 2976kbps with attenuation of 59dB (which is what my Draytek reported when I bought it - internal degradation, perhaps?) and an SNR of 6dB. So thanks to that my IP profile has jumped a whole 500kbps up to 2.5Mb from 2Mb, and the line has been stable for over an hour now.

I was already thinking of getting a Speedtouch 585v6 (better NAT table than this, 2048 entries, though nowhere near as good as the Draytek's 15000 entries), hope it syncs as well as this ZyXEL!

now NAMESCO HomeMax+ - at 2Mb sync
