ST330 ... DrSpeedtouch crashes! Any alternative?

[link to this post]

Hi,
I've just downloaded the latest DrS utility from the Alcatel website, but the darned thing crashes. It says in the installation readme that it needs IE5 (or later) to work, but I'm wondering if my new install of IE7 (which has a re-written engine from previous versions) has confused it?

It may well be something else entirely... the point is, I can't run it to see what my line stats are like.
Are there any alternative tools I can use?

Try it with firefox, I'm pretty sure it works.

Actually I've just realised that Maxthon is my default browser! Hah, I'll try setting IE(7) to be it.

Thanks for jogging my brain

edit: IE7 Didn't work. I just downloaded Firefox, set it to default, and still get the same error.
The error report includes this:

AppName: drst.exe AppVer: 1.1.0.7 ModName: msvcrt.dll
ModVer: 7.0.2600.2180 Offset: 000378c0

I guess it's nothing to do with the browser
I emailed Alcatel / Thomson about it.

So .. are there any other stats-gathering tools I can use?

Why not buy a 'proper' modem /router with an ethernet connection?

USB modems in the broadband world of today, is like expecting a Model-T Ford to function like a Mondeo.

GypsyDog,

I don't think it's going to make *that* much difference.... when everything is 'behaving' I can download at 700k per sec, get decent pings... all is fine.
Before I had Max ADSL, my download speeds were good and stable.
I'm not going to fork out for new hardware.

At least.. not yet

Be* will be LLU enabling my exchange at the end of January. I might well go for their 24mbps service, and I'll get a ethernet router with that.

In the meantime I'd like to confirm my snr etc are good enough to make it worthwhile.
