Netgear DG834v2 - any good with ADSL MAX?

[link to this post]

As the subject - I am thinking of migrating from a fixed speed (1Mbit) IP-Stream ISP to an ADSL MAX (up to 8Mbits) IP-Stream ISP.

I currently have a Netgear DG834v2.

Is this router/modem capable of coping with an ADSL MAX set-up?

Thanks,
Sam

Have you also seen posts in the relevant ISP forums as ADSLMax can have issues....

Yes I have seen them, but as ADSLmax is ADSL1, any ADSL router should be able to handle it.
Most ADSLmax issues are actually down to line noise and dodgy internal 'phone wiring, yet people still seem to blame their ISP, their router, their PC, etc.

I've also seen many post slating many different Netgear routers (including the DG834G, which I have round to be an excellent router, and only not using it now because I wanted to be able to tweak the noise margin).

I've also seen posts telling how great the Belkin 7633 is, yet I had one and it was the worst router I've owned. It was so unstable, it was responsible for so many resyncs my default noise margin was raised from 6 to 12db.

I guess what I'm saying is, anyone can have one bit of dodgy equipment, without it meaning everything from that manufacturer is rubbish.

Also, how many of the dodgy Netgear routers were down to dodgy or noisy 'phone lines.

One last thing. If the router was so bad, Netgear would be having so many returns they'd have pulled the product by now, whereas they've actually dumped the DG834G from the range, and are continuing with the DG834GT.
