One line, two modem/routers !!!

[link to this post]

Hi Folks,

I have tried in vane to sort this but to no avail so far.

I have a line coming into a building at a clients site. Nothing special, a 2mb but very steady line.

I need to extend the range of the wireless without using Cat5e cabling.
Ideally I would like the Netgear 834PN to pick up the line and send the signal out to numerous PC's and then at the outer reaches of the signal, use their D-link G604T to pick up the signal and push it out again to the remaining areas.

Is this possible? I thought I could create a bridge, but most want them to be done by cabling. I don't want a cable running from one building to another!!!

Any help gratefully received!!!

Regards,
Trevor

bridging tends to be hardware specific, if a device supports WDS then you can usually get it to talk to other WDS devices to do what you describe.

You may find you have to plug a compatible WDS access point into the Netgear and use another one of the same or compatible access points at the other end. Buffalo devices at under

Cheers Phil.

Trouble is that I am sure that I have done this before, just can't remember how !!!
Still trying now, but it is driving me nuts !!!

I have stacks of guides from google and various sites, all say it can be done and there are bridge options on both routers, just having a minor nightmare day!!!

done it before with those devices ? bridging tends to be a bit proprietary for example needs same chipset let alone same vendor. Good luck.

WDS bridging usually means putting MAC of other end into both routers.
