Which ADSL Max Router??

[link to this post]

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on which ADSL Max (I assume this is ADSL2???) router would suit my needs best; as i've no real experience with ADSL. The service is ADSL Max from Fluidata with a block of 8 static addresses. I currenty have NTL with a single dynamic address (hence the reason for a new adsl service!) with the cable modem plugging straight into a watchguard x500 and using dynDNS to run public services. What i need is an ADSL router, configure its LAN port to my first address and shove the rest as Aliases onto the Watchguard. Hence no need for wireless, firewall, NAT or any other features other than routing on the ADSL hardware.

Yeah, a cisco 877 would be ideal, but i'd like a cheaper alternative if possible!!! I have tried a Draytek box, but found no way of disabling NAT or setting up routing as required. I guess primarily i need it to do the job as described above, but a close second would be super stability. Westell Proline 6000??? Can the hardware actually influence the overall connection speed?

Any ideas of specific models and their benefits or general ADSL issues relating to this rig would be welcome!

Cheers

One point - ADSLMax is not ADSL2 - it's standard RADSL.

Thanks, for the heads up, nicefor the ISP to tell me this!!!

Does the Cisco 827 support RADSL, or is that dependant on IOS revision, and if so it looks like its a cheap exit for me ;o) Ta!

Anything that supports G.DMT will be fine - which'll be every ADSL router on sale in the UK at least

I can't comment on the other requirements though (you have 8 public IPs etc), as I've never tried to set up a multi-NAT config on any router..

Someone who has will be along soon, I'm sure
