NAT Interface Configuration Lost when Changing PPP Parameters
Description:
When changing the PPP parameters, the NAT interface configuration was lost.
Status:
NAT interworking with PPP was fixed.
Text Translation not Shown in Web Interface
Description:
Some pages in the Web interface appeared untranslated when running the Web Interface.
Status:
The problem has been solved. Pages have been updated with new translations.
Unnecessary PPP Connect
Description:
When the user name and password for PPP were not configured (i.e. left blank), the system still tried to
establish a PPP connection.
Status:
The system now refuses to initiate a PPP connection when the user name and password are left blank. This
reduces the load of failed PPP connections on the BRAS/RADIUS server.
Incorrect Reset Behaviour
Description:
Hardware and Web GUI reset showed different behaviour.
Status:
The reset behaviour was lined up and corrected for both reset options. If user.ini is not present, all
configuration files on all paths are deleted. If user.ini is present, only user.ini is deleted.
Cannot Create PPTP Tunnel in Windows XP
Description:
It was impossible to create a PPTP tunnel in Windows XP.
Status:
The problem has been solved. It is now possible.
Embedded Easy Setup wizard problem
Description:
In the german version, in the embedded Easy Setup wizard, the window in Home Network/Devices/Assign
device game or application was too small and the device name was only visible with 4 digits.
Status:
The problem has been solved.It is now possible to set the size when customizing the embedded Easy Setup
wizard, to allow for more complex languages.
Double SIP ACK messages
Description:
Double SIP ACK-messages were sent out.
Status:
Only a single ACK is sent.
No DHCP Renew on Resynch
Description:
DHCP client renew failed after a resynch of the DSL line.
Status:
The problem has been solved.
Remote Upgrade Issues
Description:
In some cases, remote upgrade fails.
Status:
Robustness of remote upgrade has been improved using exhaustive regression and field scenario
interoperability testing. This results in an improved overall interoperability.
Interoperability Problem with Huawei DSLAM
Description:
There were interoperability problems with Huawei DSLAMs. Huawei used Conexant based line cards. These
caused an INP failure.
Status:
The problem is no longer applicable since Huawei switched to Broadcom based line cards which do not
exhibit this problem.
SNTP Traffic Goes Down when Second Interface Goes Down
Description:
When using SNTP in a two WAN IP-connections environment, upon disabling the other connection, the SNTP
was simultaneous disabled on the first connection.
Status:
The problem has been solved. SNTP can now be bound on a single interface.
Bridged Packets Arrive Out of Sequence
Description:
In some cases, bridged packets arrived out of sequence.
Status:
The problem has been solved.
A HTTP response from a file server (referenced in Download RPC) containing cookie headers occasionally
resulted in a reboot of the device. A configuration file containing a combination of white space and new line
characters occasionally leads to file loading errors
> Support for 2 cookies being set by file server
> Configuration file parsing.
SNTP Timer
Description:
It used to take up to one hour to check daytime.
Status:
The PULL interval before Sync has been made configurable to solve the problem.

GUI restriction
Description
The ST embedded Easy Setup wizard supports not more than five (residential) subsequent user windows
during the ST service template configuration procedure.
Workaround
None.
DSD Restriction
Description
When Website filtering is activated (online filtering and/or URL white- or blacklisting), the maximum amount
of simultaneous web-surfing TCP connections is around 20, depending on the type of connection.
Workaround
If you need more users, set Web Browsing Interception to either, automatic mode i.e. Web Browsing
Interception will only be activated when the DSL or PPP is down, or disable it altogether (set to disabled)
As an alternative, DSD can be disabled via the ST web GUI:
1 Go to SpeedTouch > Configuration > Configure,
2 Select disabled or automatic for Web Browsing Interception.
Content Based Web filtering Removed
Description:
The content based web filter was removed from the firmware.The URL-based filter is still present.
Workaround:
None.
Debug commands
Description
On all platforms, usage of the debug commands will lead to loss of DSL or IP connectivity. Use these
commands only when specifically approved by Thomson.

None.
ST May Not Be Turned Off During Boot
Description:
If the ST is shut down during boot, it gets stuck in BOOTP mode. This is actually not a restriction as such, but
the normal result of a feature. When the ST changed from dual to single partition routers, a backup plan was
necessary in case the active (and only) build would get corrupted, or in case the modem couldn't start. The
BootP mechanism was implemented to recover from such a situation. This mode allows the routers to be
always recoverable, by having the router entering BootP mode. The router then expects a BootP server, with
a TFTP server to upload a new build.
To succeed, the router must be able to detect when the booting has failed. If the modem detects that it did not
finish its boot sequence completely, it will enter BootP mode. A side-effect of this mechanism is that, if you
unplug (or turn off in any way) a router during it's boot sequence, it will start in BootP the next time.
Workaround:
Wait for the ST to finish booting before turning it off.
Web Browsing Interception May Fail to Appear
Description:
If the DSL line is out, the Web Browsing Interception page fails to appear when the DSD is set to

I was about to buy a 585 v6 should this put me off i am a novice with routers.

No, it shouldn't put you off. Stick to the official UK release of the firmware and you should be okay.
