Long line and DSL Max - which ADSL router?

[link to this post]

I've got a Draytek Vigor 2800G but my sync speed on DSL Max (up to 8Mb/S) is usually only around 3Mb/S. My attenuation (as reported by the router) is 42dB. I get disconnections around once every hour with this router. When I was on a fixed 2Mb/S line the router stayed up for hundreds of hours and I had no trouble in connecting at full speed.

I would have thought that I could sync at faster speeds and I suspect (after reading the Draytek User's Forum) that the 2800G is not very good on DSL Max _and_ a lengthy line (I've heard that it is rock solid if you're close to the exchange, which I am not).

So, which wireless ADSL router would provide better sync speeds on DSL Max if i'm a fair way from my exchange?

The 2800G cost me a lot of money so i'm hoping not to make an expensive mistake again!

you can slow that down with a max speed command to give you a more reliable signal. Have you done the usual diagnostic stuff on wiring etc as that is a low sync speed for 42 dB. See link in sig below.
