Further reading suggests that it's for markets where the power of the wireless signal isn't as heavily restricted as it is here in the uk. I found on the australian whirlpool forums that they were saying it is identical hardware but just ships with a slightly modified firmware to up the wiress power, I guess it makes sense for them to use the latest available version of the firmware when doing this i.e. 6.2. Why would they release it with a modified older version of the firmware? I think it's fair to expect that all new models will come with 6.2 and upwards versions of the firmware which as we all know too well is not compatible with DMT.

Well I tried the latest firmware and it was fine, until it re-synced , and because I can't tweak the SNR I dropped to 3700ish instead of my usual 5128ish, which for me isn't good enough.
What I have done is go back to 6.1.4.3 and to solve the ide timeout problem I sometimes get i am using some automation software to every 30mins ping a reliable ip, ie ISP or bbc website , then if it fails 3 times it telnets to the router and simulates logging in and doing a system reboot command to reset the router, it will also email me when its done as well. Time will tell if it works, it may need tweaking or I might even be able to trap the error condition on the snmp config options in the automation software.

Just out of interest, what automation software are you using?
