New router required

[link to this post]

My Speedtouch 546v5 is starting to behave a bit oddly so I want to get a new Router just in case.
As I don't need wireless the Speedtouch 546v6 would be OK but I need to use DMT to change my noise margin and to monitor what is happening on my line.
As we know Speedtouch are progressively blocking the use of the DMT tool with each new firmware release so I wondered about the latest Netgear 834v3 or 834G v3 which I believe also use the Broadcom chipset.
Has anyone tried the DMT Tool with these routers
Edited to correct Netgear refs

"I wondered about the latest Netgear 546v3 or 546G v3"

I didn't know there was such a beast as a Netgear 546 ?

If by any chance you are thinking of the Netgear DG834 V3 or DG834G V3, they use a TI AR7 chipset.

The Netgear DG834GT is supported by version 8.x of DMT, and if you install the unofficial UberGT firmware you can tweak it from the web interface.

Correct - I messed up the references
However I was going by this statement
In reply to:

Notes on the DG834(G).
v1 and v2 are based on the TI (Texas Instruments) AR7 ADSL chipset.
v3 is based on the Broadcom chipset - similar to the Voyager 2100/2110 & DG834GT.
As such firmware versions are also different.

from http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm and I know that the firmware for the v1 and v2 is totally different to the v3

I've got the DG834G V3, I haven't dismantled it to look at the actual PCB, but I was going by what the firmware says it is

I believe the firmware is incompatible with V1 & V2 because it is either a revision, or a different member of the ar7 chipset range. I think there may be some differences to the wireless and the CPU is faster than the V1.

There's also no adslctl command that you find on broadcom chipsets.

Thanks for the clarification - looks as though I will need to get another Speedtouch unless BT can be persuaded to decrease my default noise margin from 15dB to 12dB

You could still look at the Netgear DG834GT which (confusingly) IS broadcom based as mentioned above.
I think the new 'N' models may be Broadcom too.
