DMT and line latency

[link to this post]

How do I found out if my line latency is set to 'fast' or not?

With DMT 7.27 there was a command you could use (Speedtouch 546v6 - 6.1.4.6 firmware) that showed whether it was enabled or not, but I can't remember the option to use!

I got the latest v7.32 recently and can't seem to find the command.

Unfortunately, I stupidly deleted 7.27!

Can anyone answer the above and also supply a d/l link for the old DMT 7.27 version please?

Edit: Ok I found the command...it was 'adsl info' which showed 'Channel Mode'.

Unfortunately v7.32 doesn't show this. Seems a bit of a backward step to me this 'updated' release!

So, if anyone could point me to the old 7.27 version, I'd be grateful.

TIA

Ok, don't worry about this.

It would appear that flashing to 6.2 firmware and then reverting back to 6.1.4.6 has somehow inadvertently diabled the 'Channel Mode' option from showing up when you send an 'adsl info' command to it!

Hmmm

So, it's not a problem with dmt, but something else, as Telnetting directly in reveals exactly the same readout as dmt (which it should of course) with 'Channel Mode' not showing at all!

Anyone know how to get this 'Channel Mode' to show itself again?

Not quite the thing you're after.. but if you want to know if you're on interleaved or fast path, then simply pinging bbc.co.uk should tell you.

If you are getting 15-25ms.. its almost certainly fastpath, if it is 30-40ms then its almost certainly interleaving (obviously assuming your ISP don't suck and have rubbish routing/congestion at 8am in the morning)

Hi guys thanks for the replies.

No, I've tried that too and still nothing.

There's a line missing between 'Modemstate' and 'Operation Mode' where channel mode used to be!

Weird.

That 6.2 flash experiment was a waste of time then.

Yeah, it appears I'm 'fast' enabled, but bbc.co.uk isn't a good one for me. It returns as unreachable for some reason.

I find www.demon.net better for those ping tests. Get about 15-17 ms or so.

Still, I would like to know why that 'channel mode' line has disappeared and would like to get it back again if poss if anyone knows how?

It's probably one of the many features disabled by 6.2 I'd assume. along with the ability to tweak the SNR.

Yeah, apparently so, but why is it not re-enabled after having flashed the router back to the original 6.1.4.6 firmware?!

I just don't get it.

Have you tried a hard reset of the router after flashing to the original firmware
I assume you mean 6.1.4.3 as that is the one I am using

As I said previously it's nothing to do with dmt, as Telnetting directly in using a CLI interface gives the same readout.

Yes, I did a hard reset after flashing. In fact flashing this both times was a bit of a nightmare. Took many attempts to get there. Had to disable firewalls and everything else and even then it sometimes worked half way before giving up etc...

Yes, it's definitely 6.1.4.6, straight from the Speedtouch.co.uk website. That was the original firmware that came with the router (hardware version 6).
