Switching off/re-booting ST585v6 router

[link to this post]

Hi

I have had the ST585v6 for a few months now, it works fine (after tweaking) but i do have to switch it off in the morning before using my 800w treadmill, otherwise by BRAS profile drops from 3mb to 256Kbps:( Now usually i just switch it off at mains rather the on-off switch but is there any difference between the 2 methods and which is recommended? I ask this because yesterday morning i was only getting speeds of 100kbps while the BT Speedtester showed i still had a 3mb profile!!!! I turned the router on and off just by mains power a few times but this didn't make any diffrence. After scratching my head all day, i then hit the "reboot-resync" button in DMT and BINGO my internet speeds matched my BRAS profile speeds! So does that mean when you switch off router at MAINS only, you are not re-booting it?

Thanks

Removing power for more than a few seconds and then supplying power will cause any piece of kit to reboot (with the obvious exceptions of those powered by batteries etc.).

Presumably this 'reboot-resync' button in DMT does something different.
