SNMP traps from DSL Routers

Hi All,

Just a quick question regarding SNMP traps from various DSL routers. Are the only traps that are sent our bandwidth, or do they also produce traps such as sync rate, SNR margin etc?

the MIBs have lots of variables available for remote interrogation, I haven't done "traps" myself but I have logged sync rate etc.

how did you capture the sync rate and over what device? I have found software to capture this information but id like to do it through some web based sys.

PRTG or MRTG will do the necessary every 5 mins and create graphs etc.

Depends on whether the hardware has the appropriate SNMP support to provide the data. Some only provide info on the ethernet side and others have full support.

as the man says. MRTG or PRTG will collect the data that is available and make it available as a web page. A MIB browser will allow you to see what is what. This isn't a trivial activity but the access to data can be invaluable. PRTG has I think a free trial period and is fairly plug and play.

PRTG is free for use on up to 3 sensors.
