Speedtouch 585 WAN to LAN - some ports blocked

[link to this post]

I have a BeBox Speedtouch 585 (think the firmware is v6) from Be and I'm having a nightmare getting certain services to work between the wireless and wired network on this router.
I've successfully configured these services (NFS, FTP and VNC specifically) using on my old router so I know roughly what needs to happen.
For now I've disabled firewalls on all machines to test the connectivity.
I can SFTP and SSH between wireless and LAN network, but cannot ping, telnet or FTP between them. This suggests something dropping connections on all ports except 22 (SSH) - purely for wired LAN clients though?!!.
I also tested various machines on the wired network to ensure it wasnt machine specific, same behaviour for all.
So the conditions are...
I can connect via NFS, SMB, FTP VNC, Telnet etc between wireless machines.
I cannot connect anything but SSH/SFTP between LAN connected machines.
I cannot connect anything but SSH/SFTP between wireless and LAN connected machines.
Cannot PING anything on the LAN.
I need some help here at least explaining the concepts and what I might be missing.
Please dont tell me to buy another router, I've got that in reserve but come on it's just 1's and 0's - someone must know...

Make sure that there is not a wireless isolation mode happening.

Thanks for the reply, I can't find anything *obvious* in the web interface to suggest wireless isolation. As mentioned wired LAN to wired LAN does not connect over any port but 22 so even if WLAN was isolated I'd expect a LAN PC to see NFS shares on another LAN PC. Will experiment a bit more with LAN PCs to verify there's limited ports for LAN traffic.
