Netgear DG834N to Home Hub for VoIP

[link to this post]

I have a DG834N and today I received a Home Hub from BT. What I want to do is use the Netgear for Wi-Fi, wired, modem, routing etc., and use the Home Hub for VoIP.

I have configured the Home Hub with a static IP and disabled DHCP, this is all fine, I can access the internet fine if I connect to the Home Hub wi-fi to my Mac, where the Home Hub is wired to the Netgear which functions as the modem/router.

Now, I want to use the Home Hub for BT's VoIP. The light does not switch on for VoIP on the Hub. I have configured the Home Hub to the phone number manually using BT's configurator. If I use the Home Hub's modem VoIP is fine, however it will not connect when running through the Netgear in a LAN setup.

I have port forwarded SIP to the Hub, and tried a DMZ to the Hub. How can | get VoIP to function when the Internet connection is wired via etho1 LAN socket on the Hub?

you have to convince the hub to route its voip traffic via the ethernet ports or default gateway rather than ppp0. It's out there so Google should find it.

It may not work at all.

See here for same problem with different Router.

My conclusion is that the VoIP hardware inside the router is connected directly to the modem.

Yarwell post is correct.
I have BT HH connected as a secondary router (As a wireless AP) on my home network with BT BB Talk.
I to had problems originally but got it working from advice on some site which i cant remember at the moment.
Use google. You will also have to downgrade the firmware to 6226 so that you can telnet the required settings.

Cheers for your help. I'll do that flashing of older firmware another day.

I'll use the handset to my normal DECT transmitter which goes into a 10V.

Thinking of putting the Hub upstairs and using it as a WDS. After all, it will have its use for something. May start another thread if I do not get WDS to work.

I have manually configured my Netgear so I can use the Hubs modem, through to the Netgear by wire, and the 10V into the Netgear also, worked fine. It's the old 10V and DECT transmitter I want to get rid of.
