WDS between DG834N and Home Hub

[link to this post]

I'm trying to set a Home Hub as a repeater to my existing wi-fi network. The main router is a DG834N, I have set on the Netgear as a point-to-point bridge and entered the MAC of the wi-fi for the Hub. In the Hub settings I have added the Netgear to the list of WDS enabled access points. However, WDS does not seem to be working. I have tested by placing the Hub halfway across my house and gone into a room with poor reception (which is at the opposite side of the house to the Netgear), if the Hub is on or off, there is no difference in signal strength and quality. Help.

Do I need to have both on the same SSID? Disable DHCP on one? etc.

I would expect you need to have the Netgear in some sort of client mode not point to point otherwise nobody else can join the party.
