OK how do I do this with a Speedtouch 585v6

[link to this post]

I want to set the default DNS servers to open DNS rather than the default ones from my ISP. I can't see how to do this. Can it be done ? Any advice appreciated (well, on topic anyway)

Rather than on your router you can set OpenDNS up on your PC.

https://www.opendns.com/start

This will take precedence over the router setting.

Thanks for the reply. I have done this but I am not sure which setting 'wins', the pc or the router. Also there are other users on the lan and I wouldn't mind making opendns the default rather than having to doctor the individual machines. Anyway, thanks again.

The PC wins.

On the Speedtouch it seems to be documented in section 4.6.9 DHCP Pool of the user guide, You can set the primary and secondary DNS servers there.

See user guide

Telnet in...
dns server route add dns=4.2.2.1 metric=1 intf=Internet
dns server route add dns=4.2.2.2 metric=1 intf=Internet
The metric 1 overrides the ISP defaults, 4.2.2.1,4.2.2.2 are the DNS servers you want to use
