BT HUb setup issues

[link to this post]

hi

my friend has brought a BT hub wireless point router and i was trying to set it up for him last night and it would not work.

he uses virgin and i had his passwords etc, but i went into his routers menu and input it and it done its conectivity thing but kept saying adsl down and would not connect.

i have his router connected via ethernet port and the adsl phone line into the adsl phone line port on the bottom.

anyone know what settings to use and is the router faulty?

it came with no instructions.

if the ADSL light isn't on then nothing else is going to work. Did broadband work on this line before ? have you unplugged the other device if it did.

If not, have you filtered all the phones / faxes / sky boxes / anything else plugged into the phone lines.
