Connecting a 2nd computer to a router

[link to this post]

Somehow 3 and a half years ago I managed to connect my apple mac up to a router. I've forgotten nearly all I 'learned'. I now want to connect up a 2nd computer, a pc this time, to have 2 computers connected to the net. I have a netgear DG 834 router.

Revising what I did before I see I had to go to the web page for my router and type in various bits of info to "configure" my router. Am I correct that I don't have to go to the website for my 2nd (pc this time) connection? Also what do I have to do, if anything, to settings within the pc?

I have always used a mac for my home/business so please don't assume I know where to go on the pc to adjust any settings.

Before I get round to buying a 2nd ethernet cable can I just switch the cable from one computer to another?

Thanks for any help.

Easy bit - yes you can switch the cable around.

Second easy bit - no need to reconfigure the computer. The PCs ethernet card if set to get its IP address automatically (term DHCP) will get one automatically and see the internet through the router.
