Cheap(ish) Wireless router recommendations

Hi,

I'm about to switch ISP (standard AdslMax - no LLU options or Adsl2+ yet) from O2 Access and looking for a replacement wireless router for the Speedtouch 585v7 02 supplied me that i have to send back (as much as i realise many don't recommend them this suited my needs fine). I don't want to spend much more than £50 tops.
Basic needs ..laptop uses built in 802.11 b/g wifi . Needs to have 2 or 3 wired LAN connections. Wireless-N and ADSL2+ capabilities would be good to ensure some future proofing though.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations towards routers and suppliers if possible ..that meet my budget (i realise cheap and quality don't usually go together!)

Bearing in mind the limited budget, have you considered re-furbished modem/router or a model that is now discontinued - usually with a 90 day warranty period ?

I got an old SpeedTouch 580 for daughter; works perfectly well so I purchased one for myself as a backup. It works every time I give it an 'airing', just to see if it works

I have only had a problem with one item. I emailed them and they sent another and I did not have to return the duff one.

I have no interests in this company other than as a customer.

Could stick with a thomson 585v7 as not had any probs and at least i know it works with my line. Either that or a Netgear DG834G (version 5 now out). Thanks for links..had found broadbandbuyer but not dslsource, heard of digidave too (in regards to power supplies for my old digifusion freeview PVR). There's a fair few lesser known brands about but the reviews never seem that good.

Anyone got a Solwise SAR-605EW - if so are they any good?

I bought a wired ADSL Asus router (the aam6000ev on thinkbroadbands hardware review!) from solwise about 8 to 9 years ago - only router i've ever actually bought before!

Maybe the new ISP will provide one. Plusnet come to mind.

Digidave's stuff is OK by me. Recently he was selling a Thomson wireless router with a VoIP port too.

In the end after a couple of days of shopping around online and reading reviews i'm getting a Netgear DG834PN including USB wireless adapter within budget from amazon (£47.57 with super saver free delivery). Seems to get fairly decent reviews on the whole. None of the routers in the under £50 price band get perfect reviews though!
Wireless-n was a bit beyond my price range and a bit beyond what i actually need.

Might have to turn off the christmas tree lights on it ..once the novelty wears off!

Anyway digging through this part of the forums proved useful
