Very Slow ADSL, ANy Suggestions?

Hi, I have a problem with my broadband, it's unbelievably slow. The ISP is talktalk business, non LLU (ie standard BTw ADSL)

My router stats are as below

Connected time 2hours 54mins

FEC errors - up 204 / down 323665

CRC Errors - up 160 / down 6856

HEC - up 153 / down 220021

Sync - up 448 / down 8000

dsl type: G.992.1 Annex a

Power - up 11 down 19.5

SNR up - 27 / down 15

Vendor ID: local/remote:TMMB/P

I'm no expert but my actual download speed in testing is about 15kbps. The errors counts seem high and I wonder if anyone can give me any pointers pleae.

Please can you post the results from a BT Performance Test, down as far as the end of the numbers?

What are the attenuation figures - somewhere around 40/20?

My broadband basic info/help site -
My domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

I can't even get to the speedtester page, it just wont show.

Update of stats though, something majorly wrong:

Uptime: 1 day 4 hours

FEC Errors: up 39,141 / down 896,955,008
HEC Errors: up 4,294,940,939 / down 18,297,446
CRC Errors: up 38,994 / down 5,443,143

*The HEC figure might look like a typ, but in 28 hours, it has clocked up over 4 billion errors. Something really dodgy here. That's over 42,500 errors a second!

Loss of signal remote: 65,538

Line attenuation: up 10 / down 24

The broadband is horrendous. I'm worried about reporting a fault incase I get stung with a hefty bill.

Any thoughts anyone?

That is really bad, first things first. Plug just a phone into the BT test socket (found under the faceplate on your master socket) and listen to see if you can hear anything (apart from the dial tone!) any pops or crackles and you have a line fault.

If line clear then plug the rotuer in the BT test socket to eliminate your internal wiring (with a filter of course) and check the error numbers. If still climbing, try a different filter.

If that doesn't help then try a different router, if that still doesn't help then it's a report to ISP time.

By doing the above steps you will eliminate your hardware from the equation so when you report to BT / ISP you can be pretty sure its a problem their end. It'll also save some time as they generally will get you to do the above first anyway!
