replacement for thomson tg585. Netgear:

I am a non-technical newbie needing a new modem to replace a thompson tg585 that came free from plusnet about 2 years ago. Still using plusnet, but have moved and need something more powerful to support big network: multiple laptops and wireless printer, plus multiple sonos zone players, and two my bookworld hard drives. We are using a D-Link DGD1016 swtich and everything except the laptops is wired. Have had problems with hard drives disappearing from the network and have replaced drives, switch etc and are now looking to see if the modem is the problem. Just bought (still in box) a Netgear DGNDB3100 but now am wondering if this is the right choice and should I take it back? Hope this is the right place to post. Thanks!

You mean a Netgear DGND3300? If so its a very good router and will handle your setup without any problems I used to have one and had no complaints, only got rid cos I got bored with it LOL

Thanks for that - It says on the box that is is a NetGear N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router and in smaller print in the corner it says DGNDB3100. Not sure if that is the one you are referring to? Thanks!

Yes it appears you have the DGND3300 as that is also known as N300 dual band:
