2nd router as a range extender?

[link to this post]

Basically I share a connection right now but as its from a Livebox its already reaching its limit of 6 devices plus the router is in my neighbours flat

Currently my laptop has an amazing connection for the internet and my desktop has a very good one but I have to wire in my games console to my pc to get it to work and if I want to use the bedroom pc I have to wire in my laptop to it.

I want the extender in the hall so my flat gets a signal everywhere with the max possible speed.

Is this possible?

You need a Wireless Access Point, not a router. Unless you and the neighbour think it might be a good idea to have a standby spare. Whatever you have will need to be hard-wired to the original router, unless the electricity supply has been installed in such a way that HomePlugs will work between the two flats.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

I haven't any experience of these devices (but will be installing one for a client soonish) and it might work well for you.

Wireless Range Extenders http://www.netgear.com/home/products/wireless-range-...

That's a Netgear product but other manufactures are also making them smile

Hi, take a look at the inexpensive Edimax-EW-7416APN Access Point-Range Extender, also in reviews instruction on how to set it up.
