Problem upgrading my tg585 v7 router

first i could not go to router internal page with the @ 192.168.1.254 nor the @ 10.0.0.138, and no intenet connection established. i used to install a new firmware verdion to the router the 8.2.4.4 one. I put a static ip to my pc in th begining upgrade utility did not detect the router, i used to reset it while powering,then it was detected, and the upgrade began, but at 80 % of achieving intallation, an error occured the installation failed the utility can not detect the router any more, the same when i click back " no router was detected " can someone help

I think I got this with a firewall running. Cure was to enable Windows firewall and disable mine.

Or aren't you able to do anything at all now? Even a reset to factory defaults?

my firewall is off yet, and i did turn the router to factory but no succes, the router still not been detected

There are some methods to rescue a tg585 here http://forums.modem-help.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1090 - specifically "3 Use BootP to load default Firmware" it may work if all else fails.

Edit: I used ZZ5YAA8.265.bli for a firmware update with a tg585 v7 and got a very good result - be sure to clear the browser cache first before logging-in as admin after the installing the firmware.

If you know the MAC address you can assign an IP address as follows:

arp -s 192.168.2.20 00-20-4A-80-64-0B
(for windows systems)
with 192.168.2.20 being the IP address you want to
assign to the router and 00-20-4A-80-64-0B being the MAC address

The address that you assign needs to be in the same subnet as used by the address in your computer.

There is a 8.2.6.5 version of the 585v7 firmare.

I have not seen that!

8.2.6.5 did fix an issue that I was having where the router would reject wired connections. I have not had this problem since I applied the update.

At one stage I complained to Thomson about the problem but got nowhere. Prior to that I had got Pipex/Tiscali to send me a replacement box as the unit I had appeared to lockup at random.

Yes, 8.2.6.5 is very good - I've done several TG585 v7's using that firmware (ZZ5YAA8.265.bli) and the XP&Vista_32&64.bit_UPG_Wizard_v7200 and cleaned out ISP branding to generic Thomson always very successfully. Normally use a XP laptop to do it
