Hoping for some help.
I’m looking to purchase a new router.
I currently have a WNr2000 v1 attached to a BT FTTC modem. The internal network has both wired and wireless, With various devices attached, number of PC and laptops, games consoles, smart phones, Blu-ray player , TV and cctv cameras.
I am looking for some fairly standard functionality. i.e.
PPOE
DDNS (Dymdns.org)
Wpa2
4 lan ports
Ethernet wan port
Dhcp server
IP allocations via MAC
SPI firewall
Ability to configure inbound connections
In addition I need
IPv6
1Gb lan ports
Usb port for hard drive connection
NAS functionality
DNLA server
Most importantly I have a son who like surfing the internet on the TV or Blue ray player, So I want to have the ability to apply parental controls to selected devices ONLY, and the ability to easily lift these when I want may be via a web page on the router and scheduling. Potentially parental filters could be provided by OpenDNS (The netgear offering) but by ISPs DNS for the devices which my son can’t access
I am also getting really annoyed with a lot of routers which allows either an IP or service blocked but not the ability to block a specific service on a specific IP. So I would like this functionality back.
I may in the future also require the ability to have a separate network which can access specific hosts for specific services, so multiple networks would be good or vlans.
I have looked at the Netgear WNDR 4500, and LinksysE4200 v2 but neither of these quite meets my requirementsa
Thank in advance
Andrew
