DSL-2640R - Locked to talktalk?

Looking for a cheap spare router and there seems to be loads of these on Ebay, but apparently they are rebranded & crippled versions of the 2640b. Does anyone know if they are locked to talktalk, or can be used for any ISP?

Anyone have any other suggestions for cheap routers to look out for?

Believe the DSL-2640R is a standard Dlink (unlocked) router, tho' it may have an ISP custom user ID & pwd to get into it, but that can be removed by resetting router to factory. It's the DSL-2640S that is locked, to Sky.

You can look out for Netgear DG834GT, DG834G v4 or the Netgear/Sky DG834GT or DG934G; the latter 2 are locked to Sky but may be flashed and unlocked.

I just tried to unlock a Sky DG834GT and failed. So these 2 are best avoided.

I've followed http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/skyDG834GT_flash.htm in the past which worked fine for me!

I retract this statement as I have now been able to unlock my Sky DG834GT fairly easily. My previous unsuccessful attempt could well have something to do with my set-up.
