modem/router with internet traffic

I'm in the look for a new modem/router. My last one (tp-link), packed up as it increased temperature to extreme levels and a stong odour was coming out of it...

Is there any modem/router that has online internet stats for download and upload traffic, pretty much like the dd-wrt firmware has or like the fritzbox?
