May the 14th. be with you!

My router is an Edimax AR-7284WnA, the best router I have ever used on my line, maintains sync day and night in excess of 7.4 meg with 42dB attenuation and SNM of 12dB.

However, since May 14th 2012 I have been unable to log in to the router to check stats etc. Edimax Support suggest the solution is to set my PC's date to something prior to the 14th and in so doing allow access, which indeed it does!

Any suggestions please as to a more convenient and permanent solution?

Hi have no experience with that Router but the internet is a big place, have you look to see if the FIRMWARE is up to date? have a look around Edimax forum to see if there is any talk of similar issues?

see if the firmware is up to date with the 1.07 version on their download section half way down the page,

I see that they also suggest turning time back 2 years on their website, which i find kind of counter productive

Thanks John for your response. Yes, firmware up to date, has been for some time. Actually, you only have to turn the time back two days, not two years.

I would suggest contacting Edimax support as there clearly is a date issue which they know about. Sometimes Google is quite good at answering questions like this.

That all sounds a bit strange
Perhaps it's time to start looking for a new router?

If your line is stable then you should be able to get down to a 6db Target SNRM (or even 3db if you are on ADSL2+) which will increase your speed...

Best way with the Edi, is to do a factory (hard) reset...

Then download firmware version 1.0.5 > HERE 1st

Then restore the firmware in the router, it might say "Hey you dope, this is old, do you want to do this!" just say yes...

Then, power down the router, leave it off for at least 8mins+, then reboot, then get the last, unmodded firmware HERE 2nd

Once again, restore the firmware in the modem, do a power off reboot, boot it up...

Should be fine again

This IS my new router! Worked better than any router I have ever tried on this line; Netgear, Linksys, ST 585, Belkin etc. Been running without fault for nearly a year.

ADSL2+ ????!!! We only just got electricity up here

Thanks for the suggestion. Have you tried all that? Are you the other person that actually owns an Edimax router?

Seems strange that the f/w doesn't let you login unless you change the date though?!
Is it just a normal HTML interface you are trying to access?

If the manufactures are aware of this issue have they mentioned any likely 'proper' fix?

BTW I'm also on a stone age 20CN exchange.

EDIT: I've just read your Amazon review. Do you know what chipset it uses?
