Re: Which modem could I use to replace a BT homehub 3?

Sadly, that page is absolutely incorrect - THERE ARE NO END USER SETTINGS available in the GUI, (which is available @ 192.168.0.1).
The GUI allows you to check the line stats, check the connection status or upload new firmware.
THERE ARE NO END USER settings for VCI or VPI.

All very odd. Here's another page emphasising it is a router with a modem as opposed to a pure modem: http://www.pctips.org.uk/?Hardware:Hardware_set-ups:...

Here's the fw http://corz.org/public/docs/comms/router/firmware/BT...

and this explains how to configure it as a modem http://packetman.com.au/kb/entry/396/

thanks for the advice, I've ordered the voyager and will see if that works, seller suggests it should need no configuration. It's worth a punt for the money, compared to the vigor at £60. Will see how I get on with it.

Cheers.

The 190 IS a router. See here.

If yours is AOL 'locked' then do a Google for 'BT_Voyager_190_fw.bin'. You will then be able to change the VCI etc as the Freeola page correctly states.

I contacted the seller to query if the device was locked, mentioning that I was on BT broadband, and received the following:

as per the listing these are unlocked to all isp's includeing BT

So I'll get it next week and try it out. Fingers crossed.
