Is there way to flash the modem I have to stock?

I have an unused modem from BE Broadband, and it's sitting there doing nothing.
I have a mate who is in need of a router, and I thought I would give it to him.

After getting it hooked up, I've noticed there are no options to input the ISP settings, and it's locked down to BE's own settings.

Is there a way to flash this machine so it works? It's a Thomson TG585v7.

If you are on Be Broadband, (using your own router), then when you leave they will want it back. Charge you £50 if they don't get it.
_{Edit - seems it is £35 these days, but you won't be able to use it anyway.}
