HUAWEI HG610 modem

I just recived my HUAWEI HG610 modem today that I ordered from ebay. It seems very buggy. I had nothing but problems just getting into the interface. Then even when I did manage to load it up. it would not recognise the default password and username to start with.

Anyway I wanted to test it with my current isp and as it does ADSL 2 and + but I can't even find where to put the username and password in. Where is it? I have to use PPOA not PPOE.

The other thing, it asked me at one point to upload some template. Do you need isp template to work properly?

Any tips or advice on this modem?

Smashing informative pix but one of its GUI would be more pertinent to your enquiry.

Basic | ATM to select pppoa
Basic | WAN to enter the userid and password

I used that photo to stop confusion with the similar HUAWEI HG612 version. I have taken some screen grabs if you want to see what it looks like. Nothing special. Not as easy as some routers I have used.

Thanks now found them. I still need to get some settings from my isp as this modem don't like some things left blank.

I have got the UI to work now but at first, had to connect ethernet cable to port 4 to log in, not port 1. It could do with a firmware update but don't think you can get any for that.

Still a bit buggy but ok and may work better when I get fibre.

I don't know anything about your modem but you need to go to the Basic configuration pages as BatBoy said.

There's no confusion, it looks like the web GUI is the same as the HG612.

What you think of a remote viewer is simply the TR069 management interface.

What you described as a template update in reality is the firmware upgrade wizard that you inadvertently started.

Pix 1 is what you want.

Pix 2 is irrelevant to you query. It's remote management anyway.

Pix 3 is not strange at all. It's for flashing new firmware, but why you went there I can't imagine.

All present & correct on most routers but presumably not the primitive ones you are used to.

Ray don't be silly please, it's all relevant as it about the HUAWEI HG610 modem.

Did you actual read what I said and what batboy's reply's to me were? I posted them other photos as I was talking about the other problems with the modem. At least Batboy gives me constructive replies and help. Shake head.
