Re: Fritz 7390 Multicast settings for BT YouView Extra Chann

[re: DougM] [link to this post]

I'm using a fritzbox 3390 on firmware version 121.06.52. I downloaded FBEditor 0.7.2.1 from here http://www.anime80.com/repository/index.php?option=c... then changed the language to English using this post http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/dslrouter/t/4475266... Then I copied the config off my fritzbox using it and applied DougM's diff file from here http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/dslrouter/t/4321507... using patch on my ubuntu box. Then I ran the checksum calculator from here https://superuser.com/questions/983613/fritzbox-7490... and generated a new checksum. I used this checksum to overwrite the original checksum of the file I had generated from the step before where I patched my config file with DougM's diff file, then loaded the resulting file onto my fritzbox with FBEditor. It works fine and I now have my BT multicast streaming channels all working properly and I don't have to put up with the constant restarts of my smarthub any more. A massive thankyou to everyone who has contributed to this post, it has finally provided the solution to my flaky smarthub and all my multicast channels work. Nice work!

Hi,

I realise this is an old thread but I've just been hit by this issue after having YouView installed when using a Fritz 7390. Unfortunately that device has the latest v6.85 firmware. Did anyone manage to successfully edit their config on a device running this version? Looking at teh international downgrade files I'm limited as to how far back I can go and doesn't look like I can get a firmware version lower than v6.51.

I also have a Fritz 3490 but that's running the latest v7.12 firmware. That certainly doesn't have the fix for this issue in it either and looks like I can only go back to v7.01 on that.

So I'm wondering if anyone has managed to edit later firmware versions? So far using the FBEditor I've not had any success connecting to the router and the option it mentions to uncheck to get the connection doesn't seem to be on the interface.

Thanks

I managed to get this worknig in the end. The 7390 had the latest firmware installed. The steps I completed were (on a Windows machine):

Step 1
1) Login to the Fritz!Box and go to System --> Fritz!Box Users --> Login to the Home Network tab
2) Untick the "Extra confirmation to configure certain settings and functions" check box and complete the authentication required
3) Go to System --> Backup. Enter a password you will remember (needed later). Click Save to save the config file somewhere

Step 2
1) Download the fb_vbs.7z (or .exe) from here: http://www.mengelke.de/Projekte/FritzBoxVBScript
2) Extract the files to the same folder you save the config file to and you should have a fb_calcsum.vbs file in there

Step 3
1) Edit the router config merging in the changes provided in the first page of this forum post (Notepad++ is useful for this, ensure formatting is correct!)
2) Save the updated config to a NEW configuration file in the folder you extracted the fb_calcsum.vbs file into
3) Open a Command Prompt and go to the folder you extracted teh fb_calcsum.vbs file into
4) Use the command: C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe .\fb_calcsum.vbs NEW_CONFIGURATION_FILENAME
5) A window will display showing the new checksum code
6) Go to the last line of the config file in your editor and replace teh checksum code with the new one

Step 4
1) Login to the Fritz!Box
2) Go to System --> Restore. Browse to the new modified file and enter the password you assigned the Backup file in the earlier step. Click Restore and wait for the router to reboot

Step 5
1) Test IPTV on YouView box
2) Login to the Fritz!Box and go to System --> Fritz!Box Users --> Login to the Home Network tab
3) Tick the "Extra confirmation to configure certain settings and functions" check box
