Best wireless AC router for £100?

[link to this post]

Hi,

I am thinking about purchasing a wireless AC router but have got a bit confused along the way due to reviews some being good and bad. Usually I would be ok at looking for a new router without needing to ask but I am just not sure which one is the fastest performance but also has a long range for £100 or less.

I have found these, the Netgear one looks promising as does the Asus but not sure, I have even found one by TP-LINK but some people have good reviews on it and bad.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-RT-AC56U-Wireless-Broad...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-AC1750-Wireless-Giga...

Please could someone point me as to which one I should buy for great and fast wireless performance, or if you guys think something else is better for £100 or less?

Thanks

PCPro magazine did a comparison review with actual data transfer tests, the summary seems to be on the web, not the full review:
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/alist/wireless-router

The Asus RT-AC68U came out the fastest (around £161 on Amazon today) but they recommended the Netgear R7000 nighthawk - I think for range reasons.

James - plusnet unlimited fibre - 2 Jun 14 - 470m - Sync 55/9.4 (BT was 51/9.8)
15 years broadband (1999 ntl:cable trial) - Asus RT-AC68U with HG612 - PN BQM - PN speed - old BT speed

I would always go for Asus for two reasons.
1) They are great bits of kit
2) There is a thriving third party firmware scene. I only use Merlin's firmware - based on the stock Asus firmware and MILES better. I have never used the stock version.

Check out http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/forumdisplay.php?f=37 for more on Asus and Merlin's firmware

Thanks you for the link, I think I might need to spend a little more, think I will go for the AC68U or the lower AC66U.
