Asus N66U recovery mode help

I bought an Asus N66u router this afternoon and having some problems.

I connected it all up and it worked straight out the box. Literally!
I never setup anything at all and it was working. I couldn't log in to it either using the default login and password. So done a recovery mode thing following all the instructions. It uploads the firmware then says system recovery in progress. Once this gets to 100% it just shows failed to connect to the wireless router.
I've checked instructions and watched YouTube videos and everything is being done exactly as instructed but always gets to this point and that's it. Help!!!

Ok, I've managed to get it to load fine now which is better but i'm trying to log in to the router using the default username and password and it just says invalid.

Ive tried username: admin password:admin
and admin and password for the above.

Never mind. All sorted now thankfully.
