Hey Guys
I'm looking at buying a Draytek Vigor 2760 Router and want to know what the VDSL chipset is?
I'm on a Huawei 288 Cab and as far as I know that contains Broadcom based chipset equipment and I would preferably like to match.
Regards.

And what will that give?
Potentially lower speeds?

How will matching the hardware lower speeds?
If anything it would speed them up!

What they are saying is that no proven improvement from matching on VDSL2.
With ADSL/ADSL2+ where you also have widely varying LLU configurations of the DSLAM it was more important, but with Openreach configuring the cabinets in a similar fashion it makes no difference.

Is that still an issue with Fibre ? I know it was for ADSL/2 and 2+.

Now -> Xilo / Uno (and BT)
Still no fibre

Oh OK, also having a Broadcom chipset would make it easier for extracting advanced dal stats or could i get the same stats using other chipsets?

I know of several installations where they have obtained a second modem, including my own, and have done comparsions of Huawei and ECI modems against their cabinets. Most of them have found a ECI modem gives higher sync than a Huawei when used with a Huawei cabinet. In my case the improvement was around 5 Mbps.

Oh ok, I do remember seeing something on here mentioning that a while back... I would still like to know what chipset is in the router though?

It's Lantiq, like the HH5 type A.

Obtaining stats is all about the firmware and what coders let you see

OK, Well forgive me for not knowing much on this subject as I'm brand new to FTTC and only first even used the service at my new neighbours house today.
Some learning to be done.

Try looking at the 2860 instead - the firmware is worked on more and there are often more features. You might be able to get a used/almost new 2860 on eBay for same price as a new 2760.

Thanks and yes correct I received an email from Draytek this morning advising the same.

Lantiq used to be Infineon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lantiq
Oh OK I thought infineon still existed and also did lantiq at the same time.

I did look at that but can't justify spending nearly £200 on a wired router at the moment and still have 2 AP's to buy as well as forking out £300 on a NAS and installing a new gigabit Ethernet network throughout my new place.
Also not a fan of second hand electronics.
Thanks for info regarding FW though.

IF ( i am not saying get it) you get a 2760n ask the shop for the new updated delight version, is faster than the old standard 2760 version, has almost same menu & features (by now) as the 2860 & is been added to the updated version snr tweak (via telnet for vdsl) ... 2,4G only but i believe its signal is far better than the 2860

I emailed draytek about the different firmwares and was told they don't do the linux versions any more, only the DrayOS versions (Delight) ...
ps. I'm getting Wireless AP's separately as I live in a big house and want to also broadcast a guest network using vlan
I'm getting TP-Link TL-WA801ND Access Points as they allow upto 4 SSID's using different vlans

is far better than the 2860
2860 wireless problems almost makes up half the Draytek UK forum at the moment, as you know

well I'm not going to bother with Wireless enabled one anyway, I will be using TP- Link TL-WA801ND Access Points for that.
I will be using them with VLAN to make a guest network split from the rest of network and maybe another private IP range for different devices on the network.

Anyone know anything about the Linksys LRT224 Dual WAN Router??
It looks like a better buy than the Vigor as I'm not restricted to VDSL.

I thought that too, when I found it last night.
