Fibre Modem - standalone no router ?

[link to this post]

Apart from the Openreach HG612 box and the Draytek 130 is there any other standalone Fibre modem i can get that will allow me to use a stand alone router of choice on Fibre? There seem to be very few options available and i dont want an all in one box as then i cant fiddle with router firmware and add Tomato to it.

A Huawei HG612 V3B will do this.

I use a Billion 8800NL in Bridge mode with a separate gateway/security device which effectively turns it into a modem

(My gateway/router is Sophos UTM in a VM on a HP Microserver)

It works very well

Sorry, I thought you meant the master socket.

AFAIK the only VDSL2 standalone modems out there are the Openreach HG612/ECI & Draytek 130.

The HG612 is a modem/router in bridge mode.

The HG622, that I and several others on the forums possess, (I don't use mine), is similar to the HG612 but with four Ethernet ports.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 59999/14372kbps @ 600m. - BQM

There is the ZyXEL P-871M Point-to-Point VDSL2 Modem - 91-004-778003B
ZyXEL P-871M Point-to-Point VDSL2 Modem but it is double the price of the Draytek 130.

(The Draytek Vigor 130 works very well, I use one along with an Asus AC3200 router.)
