ZyXEL VMG8924-B10A

I have a VMG8924-B10A. It has two features which I would like to change:

a) I would like it to respond to external pings so that it works with the thinkbroadband,com ping monitor.

b) At the moment if a web browser is used to access the external IP address the configuration logon panel is displayed. How can I stop this happening?

I have failed to find the answers to my questions in the manual so any suggestions would be appreciated.

a)Go to remote mgmt on maintenance menu and Enable ICMP on WAN interface and Apply.



b) Go to remote mgmt and make sure all WAN Enable boxes are unticked except ICMP and Apply.

Thank you for your reply. Those both work fine. I am getting to like this router which I bought 2nd hand on ebay much more.

It's a nice little router if you don't get a duff PSU which is probably made in China for 4p each. I am currently running my only working one on a Billion PSU which I know is reliable and have another on the way as I like a configured spare.

I use it just as a bridge modem as it gives me highest sync and an Asus Dual band router for PPPoE login.

At the moment I am using the router on an ADSL (not ADSL2+) connection. Being able to use the 5th RJ45 port for my local network was a bonus I had not expected. One reason that I bought the router was that I plan to move to Vodafone FTTC.

The router appears to allow multiple DSL definitions to be set up but I have not spotted anywhere to specify which one to use. So I am wondering if I set up the Vodafone VDSL account details whether the router will start to use them when the line is switched. This would be very useful as I will not be present when the change takes place.

I am not sure if that would work but you can try and if you have the Vodafone credentials try setting up another profile ready for the switch over. Can't see why it won't work.
