Recommend Router for DDNS and Port Forwarding on VM 350

[link to this post]

I have just had Vivid 350 installed and have discovered that the supplied hardware doesn't support DDNS, I use NO-IP.

I know I can put the VM hardware in modem only mode, so looking for recommendation for a router that would work with NO-IP DDNS and Port Forwarding. Wireless range isn't really a concern as most of my hardware is connected via Ethernet.

Wrt no-ip DDNS you have a choice of a wide range of routers:

I would go for something like the Netgear R7000, as it offers great performance and features for the money. It also supports third party firmware such as DD-WRT for even more features, eg OpenVPN.

Or an Asus with Merlin firmware, such as the RT-AC86U

Merlin firmware and supported routers here:https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/about it's well maintained and easy to flash as well as return to stock firmware.

It's just had DoT (DNS over TLS) added which is nice.

Thanks for the advice. I have had Asus and used Merlin Firmware in the past. I've ordered a 16 port switch and trying to buy a R7000 2nd hand elsewhere
