Looking for new router/modem combo, possibly Netgear?

[link to this post]

Think my old 10yr old router is starting to show signs of its age, although its been a great little router. Anyway seeing as ive not bought a router for so long, what things should i be looking for? Do different models still offer different reliability due to the chipsets in them?

I dont need anything fancy, i only have a handful of devices attached to my current router, and other than Netflix now and again none are intensive. Ive always had Netgear routers as they a decent price for a basic router, and the interface is nice and simple.

So what i would require is a router with built in modem, 5Ghz wifi and something that wont break the bank. Any suggestions?

No complaints here with the Billion 8800AXL R2. It never needs a reboot, has 5Ghz Wi-fi and built in ADSL/VDSL modem.

Seems hard to get hold of that one. Was looking at the NETGEAR D6400 - AC1600 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router Dual Band Gigabit

vdsl modems are backwards compatible with adsl, i just replaced an ancient dg834v1 with a 8800nl from ebay

I don't think there are any (consumer and small business) modems or modem/routers that aren't ADSL-compatible. And ADSL2/ADSL2+.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.
